Announced last August 30th during IFA 2018 , the Xperia XZ3 comes with Qualcomm’s most powerful chipset, the Snapdragon 845, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage, one of the best screens on the market and can be considered as the bet of Sony to return to the focus of the eyes of the consumer.
Already available as a pre-order on the European continent , the Japanese company has made it clear in a notice posted on Twitter today that its newest flagship will come with support for the ultra-fast 5G connection. Check out the tweet below.

” 5G is coming! Enjoy ultra-fast connectivity and enhanced experiences with the Xperia # XZ3. “
However, considering that the Xperia XZ3 comes equipped with a Snapdragon 845 chipset, doubts as to how it could be compatible with new technology hangs in the air. That’s because the included chipset comes equipped with the Qualcomm X20 LTE modem, which is not compatible with 5G and achieves ” only ” 1.2 Gbps speeds , unlike the 2Gbps of the new network.
For the device to be compatible with the ultra fast connection, it would need to carry either the LTE X50 modem or the LTE X24 modem, which are also manufactured by Qualcomm. With this, unless Sony has made a mistake in disclosing compatibility, we can expect the brand to launch a modified version of its top-line in the near future by loading one of the new modems.
If this is indeed achieved, Sony may be one of the first manufacturers to place a device compatible with 5G networks on the market. However, it will not reign on its own for a long time, since we have recently seen Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 running on a connection of the type and by all accounts, most of the 2019 line tops will also come with technology support.
